Former X Factor winner Shayne Ward has been crowned the 2016 winner of Best Newcomer at this year’s National Television Awards.
The actor who won the 2005 edition of XFactor, scooped the prize beating off competition from the likes of Parry Glasspool, Gemma Atkinson and Richard Blackwood to the crown of favourite Newcomer.
He gave a special shout-out to his mum during his speech, who wiped away her tears as she proudly watched him accept the prize.
Thanking the show, his friends and family, voters and his mum, he added: “This is an incredible moment from me.
“Who would’ve thought a singer from the X Factor would be on one of the most amazing shows like Coronation Street?”
The star joined the ITV show as Aidan Connor – the cousin of Michelle Connor (played by Kym Marsh) – last August.
