BOMB ALERT IN LONDON BRIDGE. THOUSANDS EVACUATED

Hundreds of people were  evacuated from Tooley Street in central London, Metropolitan police have confirmed.

Southwark police were called to the road at 12:26pm Tuesday following reports of a suspicious item found at the address.

Specialist officers are at the scene until around 6:30pm and a number of evacuations took place, police have said.

Witnesses said the evacuation took place close to Hays Galleria, a popular shopping destination opposite London Bridge station.

Southwark Police  confirmed the street  open again and Hays Gallaria is to return to.

Officers thanked the public for their “patience and compliance with officer directions at the scene”.
