Is no surprise that Beyonce is one of the highest-paid musicians in pop when she can command several million dollars in one night. The 7/11 singer performed a secret concert in Las Vegas on 30 September and reports claim she raked in up to $6m (£3.9m) for the job.
The 34-year-old was hired to put on a show at the strip’s Palms Casino Resort for a technology company who did not reveal any details about the private performance beforehand.
Audience members shared footage from the surprise concert on social media, including one of the Grammy-winning singer performing her debut solo single Crazy In Love. Pictures from the event show Beyonce wearing a red, sequinned and striped bodysuit while dancing around the stage with a bevy of backing dancers. Not everyone was pleased with the surprise as one guest at the hotel complained about the noise from the stage on Twitter, writing: “#beyonce is in Vegas for a private and unannounced tech party. Thx @Palms for no [sleep] on a work trip.”
Although the tech company made no official announcement about the performance, a reporter for Styleite published an article on 24 September claiming to have overheard two production staff discussing Beyonce’s schedule and mentioning a Vegas show. One reportedly asked the other: “Are you going to Vegas? It’s a smaller production. No smoke box, or anything just an LED screen.”
While she does not have a new album to promote, Beyonce has been returning to the stage more frequently in recent months, including a headline performance at Philadelphia’s Made In America festival in September 2015, organised by her husband Jay Z.
