Two Blind Date contestants were reunited during a chance meeting on the London Underground 25 years after appearing on the show.
Howard Griffiths and Brigette Bard, who appeared on an episode of the ITV dating show in October 1992, were both stunned when they bumped into each other on the Central line on Thursday night.
TV presenter Mr Griffiths, 48, said he had boarded the Tube at Oxford Circus after a night out and that Ms Bard had got on a few stops later with three friends.
He told the Standard: “I’m still in shock, it all happened in the space of three minutes. Three women got on the Tube at Bank and a blonde woman sat opposite me.
“She said, ‘I know you from somewhere’ then she said ‘Howard’ and I said ‘Brigette, that’s 25 years ago, you haven’t changed.’
“We had spoken to each other for two to three weeks after the show but we lost touch.
“Anyway, I got my phone out to take a picture but I had had four beers and I was quite excited so I accidentally made a video. Then my Tube stop came.
“We said that we’d talk this morning and she gave me her card.”
Mr Griffiths, who is single and lives in London, said he had arranged to meet up with mum-of-three Ms Bard, who is separated from her husband.
He added: “We are definitely going to meet up and catch up again.”
Following their chance encounter on the Tube Mr Griffiths tweeted the video of the pair and wrote: “You won’t believe this! Just randomly met Brigette who I picked on ITV Blind Date 25 years ago, on the Central Line #SmallWorld.”
In the footage, a beaming Mr Griffiths said: “I have just met Brigette from Blind Date. What’s your name and where do you come from?”
She replies: “Yeah, Brigitte from Epping!”
He then said in Italian: “I would like to be able to speak Italian fluently”, a phrase he used to try to woo Ms Bard when they appeared on the ITV dating show in 1992.
