EASTENDERS STAR REFUSES TO ATTEND AWARDS HELD AT CLUB INVOLVED IN RACISM ALLEGATIONS

EastEnders star Tameka Empson has snubbed a high-profile awards show in a racism row.Tameka who plays, Kim Fox in the BBC soap, knew she had scooped funniest female at the Inside Soap Awards but refused to attend.

Tameka, 38, Kim Fox in the BBC soap, knew she had scooped funniest female at the Inside Soap Awards on Monday night.

But she refused to go as it was held at celebrity London nightclub DSTRKT.

The venue in Leicester Square has come under fire after a clubber posted offensive text messages from a man said to be a promoter for the club.

The texts allegedly read: “black crowd is the concern” and intimated two darker skinned members of her group would not get in.

The row has sparked protests outside the club.

Several EastEnders stars had reservations about attending the awards.

A source said: “Lots felt uncomfortable but felt a duty to say thank you to their fans, who voted for the winners. It was a really tough decision.

“Tameka resolutely refused to go. Everyone fully accepts her decision.”

Tameka hinted she wouldn’t attend the bash last week.

She tweeted: “Looking forward to InsideSoap Awards on Monday. I always enjoy their awards, interviews and photo shoots. However…. Not sure if I will get into the venue………….. # DSTRKT #DoILookDstrkt.”
