While Google searching this morning, I came across this poster image that said “If you think that God has forgotten You, that is because you have forgotten who God is” and immediately I was hit by the power behind those words.
Many atimes, us Christians come to that point that we feel seriously overwhelmed by problems and life issues that seem to be defying every solution and refusing to go away and we resort to blaming God or accuse Him of forgetting us.
I was once at a point that I suffered serious depression. But I was depressed because I was sad and I was sad because I had problems that I couldn’t deal with or that I couldn’t find solutions to. And I would stay in bed all day sometimes for whole weekends and not bath or eat and just cry and moan at God for not loving me or caring about me. But the truth of the matter is that, that was also the period that I was far away from God. I had distanced myself from God, stopped attending church and was not studying the word of God. And the knowledge that I had prior to that period, I had forgotten so I couldn’t apply any wisdom to my situation.
Fortunately, God mercifully sent me help regardless, and I was able to find my way back to fellowshipping with Him. I was reminded of His promises through His word and I have been able once again to apply them to my situations. Over the past 24 months, I have seen God move like no other time in my life and I have seen Him work miracles in my life that many would not believe.
Than is because I was reminded of WHOM MY GOD IS. I also remembered who I am in God and his love and plans for me.
The word of God says “I know the plans I have for You, plans of peace and not of evil, to give you a great end” Jer 29:11
His word also says
“Blessed is she that believes for there shall be a performance of those things that were told her from the Lord” Luke 1:45
“For all the promises of God are yea and amen unto the glory of God” 2 Cori 1:20
“And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are still speaking, I will hear” Is 65:24
“But without faith, it is impossible to please Him; for anyone that comes to GOD must first BELIEVE that HE IS and that he is the rewarder of those that diligently seek Him” Heb 11:6
“Behold the Lord’s hand is not shortened that He cannot save; nor His ears heavy that He cannot hear” Is 59:1
When we pary to God, we must do so with deep unflinching and unyielding faith. What worked for me was that I brought myself to the point of totally yielding to God, asking for forgiveness for my little faith and asking him to increase my faith.
I became a God praise and worship singer instead of a pity moaner and praised Him through my circumstances, remembereing that praise is the food that pleases Gods heart and opens His hand. I made the effort to keep believing against the odds before me, that there was nothing God cannot do and that has become my mantra.
WE get bogged down by sadness and fall into self pitying depression because we forget whom we are in God through Christ (the apple of His eyes whom He guides jealously) and we forget whom God is – The One who causes all things to work together for good for those who love Him. God is not glorified through our sufferings and difficulties – rather, it is to His glory and honour when we overcome, succeed and excel. And that is His plan for us.
God has good plans and intentions for us.
He wants the best for us and it is NOT to his pleasure to see His children suffer or lack good things. But first we must do our part in believing that ABSOLUTELY NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR HIM and be absolutely sure that THERE IS NO UNBELIEF OR SIN CREATING A GULF BETWEEN US AND OUR GOD because “a double minded (unbelieving) person cannot receive anything from God” James 1; and “sin separates us from God, causes God to turn His face away from us and He closes His ears to our prayers” Is 59:2.
So next time that problem or difficult situation arises, my friend, don’t dissolve into a pityful moaning wreck. Instead arise, pray without ceasing, sing praises unto God and affirm your trust in Him and in His power – then wait patiently and you will see that HE IS GOD.
