HELICOPTER CRASHES INTO LAGOS LAGOON, 3 DEAD

Reports just getting to us are claiming that an helicopter was seen crashing into the lagoon at Oworonsoki area of Third Mainland Bridge at around 4pm this afternoon, 12 August.

The Helicopter was said to have burst into flames upon hitting the water.

Three bodies have been recovered from the site of the crash and another three with varying degrees of injuries have been taken to different hospitals around Lagos. It is however yet unclear if the injured three were also passengers on the aircraft or casualties on the ground injured by flying debris.

It is also not clear if the aircraft involved is military, commercial or private. However, the South-west Spokesperson for the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mr. Ibrahim Farinloye, confirmed the casualties.

Rescue and search operations are still ongoing on the site.
