“For though the righteous fall seven times, they will rise again”
Pro 24:16
Even the Bible is clear on the very possibility of someone falling or failing up to SEVEN times in ones lifetime. What a great shame it would be for one to simply give up after the first or even second incident of failure.
Please don’t give up my friend.
No matter what stumbling block has been placed in your way – or even if it’s that you have messed up and failed (marriage, exams, career, business, faith, lifestyle etc ) please don’t see it as the end of the world. You can still make a comeback.
History is peppered with stories of great men who started off as “failures” or men who were big but encountered some incident that brought their world crashing down around them but nevertheless went away, regrouped and came back bigger and even better. Think actor Robert Downey Jr, Mohammed Ali. Think Saul later to become the greatest Evangelist and Apostle Paul. Think even Peter who denied Christ 3 times but later became the founder of what is today the Catholic church.
JK Rowling, the famous Harry Potter novels writer, was a single parent on welfare benefits before she found fame. She is known for this famous words
“I was set free because my greatest fear had been realized and I still had a daughter that I adored, and I had an old typewriter and a big idea. And so rock bottom became a solid foundation on which I rebuilt my life.”
Think Moses who went from being a Prince in the Palace of Pharaoh but in a fit of anger, committed a heinous crime and fled into exile only to return to lead the Israelites out of slavery and onto the great Exodus.Think of Joseph, sold into Slavery by his own brothers only to emerge Prime Minister in the very country he was a slave.
How about Job a very wealthy man who lost everything in just one day. Yet we are told that he came back even wealthier than before.
Even our Lord Jesus Christ who was stripped naked, flogged, spat on, ridiculed, shamed, and left to die a humiliating death hanging naked from a cross. Thousands of years later and through all generations there is almost no one who has not heard of His name and who is worshiped daily by many of the earth’s entire population!
The popular saying “The downfall of a man, is not the end of his life” is a wise piece of advice that we should remember always.
And no one is immune to falling or failure. After all the Bible does say “Let he who think he stands be careful because he too can fall”
But let anyone who has fallen NOT make the mistake of failing to get up again. Failing is an essential pit stop on the journey to success and many success stories are incomplete without the rags to riches element. When we fall or experience a downfall, what we must do is allow a tiny moment to mourn or grieve, then get right back on our feet and keep fighting. Oftentimes, we may find that we mess up again and again – but each episode leaves us with a new set of experiences and lessons.
And these lessons are what teach us and mature us to be better and more experienced – taking and guiding us on the way to finally succeeding.
