LAGOS STATE GOVERNOR AMBODE DENIES AUTHORISING THE DEMOLITION OF SABO MARKET

The Lagos Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode has made it known that he did not order the demolition of the Sabo Market in Ikorodu, Lagos.

Officials claiming to be working on behalf of the government detroyed trading stalls and units in the market amid allegations of illegality. Their actions were carried out in the early hours of Monday morning before trading activities resumed in the popular market. Affected shop keepers claim goods worth hundreds of millions of naira were destroyed in the excercise which allegedly came with no previous warning.

The governor has ordered an investigation into the incident  but a statement released on his behalf has directed all concerned parties to send their petitions to the relevant government department to register  their grievance with their suggestion of “what they want the Government to do”
