MANY INDUSTRY FRIENDS ABANDONED ME DURING MY DARKEST HOURS – JULIUS AGWU

Ace comedian Julius Agwu has opened up about how he was let down by many industry friends and colleagues during the period of his recent troubles and battle with brain tumour.

In an exclusive interview with TVC, the ace comedian mentioned a number of things particularly the fact that the Nigerian entertainment industry is bedeviled by spiritual problems and treachery.

In the highly engaging and revealing session Agwu claimed  that he stopped getting invitations to perform at shows.

He said he felt like there was a spell on him at some point.

Julius went on to say some major publicists refused to handle his brand at the time because he was going through a rough phase.

He mentioned Ayeni ‘Ayeni The Great’ Adekunle of Black House Media as one of those who turned him down during the tough times he faced.

“Ayeni The Great na my friend. I call Ayeni, I dey beg am. Ayeni no dey pick my calls,” he said.

He sums up his revelations saying: “People who stood by you when the times were rough, during your trials and tribulations, remember them.”

He talked about comedians and musicians he had helped and given opportunities to in the past but he got no form of recognition from.

Agwu recently survived a brain tumour following a successful operation in the US. The entire issue started in May after he had a seizure and passed out.

Speaking to Yes International Magazine on July 6 on what led to his eventual surgery in Houston, Julius said he couldn’t recall the exact cause of his illness.

The interview reads: “All he could recollect was that at some point, he went on and on losing serious weight, which got many people wondering. Some concerned ones started proffering solutions, both medically and spiritually, while others resorted to murmuring and gossiping.

“It went on and on until sometime in May when he had a seizure at home and while his wife, Ibiere, whom he lavished with so much thanks all through our stay for her love, care, understanding and support, battled to halt that, he ran out of breath. Almost lifeless. And with the likely consequences starring her in the face, Ibiere got their maid and the security man to assist her in getting him into one of their cars. And from there, they practically sprinted to their hospital in Lekki.Thank God the doctor was on call. He battled for hours with his team to ‘bring him back to life again’. And upon stabilizing him, Julius and his wife immediately left for Houston in the United States of America.  A series of tests revealed two lumps on his brain which were successfully removed by surgery .

He is married to Ibiere and the couple is blessed with kids.
