Media personality and CEO of EbonyLife TV, Mo Abudu is the latest of the individuals linked to the Ikoyi apartment where the latest EFCC discovery was made.
Stories had been circulating on social media that the flat at 16 Osborne Road, Ikoyi, was owned by former River’s State governor Rotimi Amaechi who allegedly gave it to her as a gift.
It has also been alleged that Mo who is known as one of Africa’s most successful women is the former governor’s lover.
In a statement released by the media moguls lawyers, Mo unequivocally states that “these allegations are completely false, malicious and without merit”
The statement further says”Mo Abudu does not live in flat 7A or 7B, has never lived in flat 7A or 7B and the apartment she lives in was never a gift from any person”
It continues “Mo abudu did not receive any apartment as a gift from Hon Rotimi Amaechi or any other persons. Rather, the statement says, the apartment was purchased by our client in the open market and for fair value”
The sum of $43,449,947, £27,800 and N23,218,000 (totalling $43.6 million or N13.3 billion were discovered hidden in metal cabinet drawers in the apartment following a whistle blower tip off.
Immediately after the found, the names of former PDP chieftain Muazu and Rotimi Amaechi were thrown in a possible owners of the flat and the cash haul. Yesterday, former top NNPC official Ogbue was also alleged to be the owner of the cash but she has also released a statement through her lawyers denying any link to the cash.
It has also been alleged that the cash might belong to the secretive NIA (National Intelligence Agency) the government agency that oversees foreign intelligence and counterintelligence operations in the country and it was meant for an ongoing covert operation and had been hidden in a safe house to be later returned back to the government coffers.
Interestingly, that information has been robustly denied by the agency’s Director Ambassador Ayodele.
