ORISEFEMI & FORMER MANAGER’S FEUD INTENSIFIES

After months of silence, Oritsefemi’s ex-manager, Adepitan ‘Danku’ Yusuf, has finally reacted to the theft allegations levelled against him by Oritsefemi.
He said he took Oritsefemi from nowhere and made him somebody.

A few months ago, while I was on a visit to Nigeria, I had a chat with Orisefemi and he made some serious allegations against Danku but as I couldn’t reach him to personally substantiate the accusations, I decided not to post the story. But now Danku has come out publicly with his own side of the story.

According to Danku “I took him (Orisefemi) from Ajegunle and brought him to Ikeja.
I took him to the Island and I took him to Lekki as well. I took him to D’banj, I took him to Davido and some A-list artistes he never believed he could work with. It is unfortunate that after I took him to Abuja to sign a record deal with my business partner, Mr. Allen of Avatar, he came up with this strange behaviour trying to disorganise the plans I had for him”

“I guess he was overwhelmed by the prospects and believed that he had finally arrived because he never believed he could make it to the level I took him to. I did the promotion of Double Wahala from scratch. I sponsored the promotion because he had nothing”.

“For three months I promoted that song with my own money. It is unfortunate that he came up with those allegations against me just to promote his music and ridicule me. He said I took his Range Rover and stole his N58m for endorsement he got from a brand. I was surprised because I don’t know where he got the endorsement from”.

The Range Rover he is talking about he crashed by himself when he was coming from an event I was not aware of on December 6, 2014. (However, it must be recalled that following the crash, Danku himself was quoted several times as saying he was in the Jeep with Orisefemi which collided with a stationary vehicle after being chased by armed robbers and he had his arm in bandages for weeks).

“He is going around parading himself as the owner of MSN Gang, my company, which I registered myself. I have everything documented with my lawyers but I will address the press very soon extensively and will expose his lies.”

Danko reveals that the reason he ever agreed to work with Oritsefemi initially was because of the pressure he was piling on him: “We started working in 2013. I used to give him shows and events. At a point he was always calling me for money so I said ‘let me do something for him.’ So I from Ajegunle, I picked him up.”

A version very close to what Orisefemi told me five months ago recently appeared in the press.

He said in the mixnaija.com post ‘I will arrest Danku and his mother as well and all the money I spent on him would be recouped’.

He continued by narrating the genesis of their feud: ‘Danku just left the house one day and never came back. I don’t have anything against him. The day he left, I was not home, he just took my Acura MDX SUV and all the money I had in his account. I feel that is a criminal act and it is enough for me to arrest him. I have just been watching him without saying a word but I think it is time to talk. I went to Ondo State and before I got back, Danku had disappeared. I called him that I had returned and he should come home, he said okay, but never came back’.

The singer alleged he empowered Danku’s mother even though he did not get his own mother a job. He said, ‘I placed my mother on a monthly salary but I empowered his mother’s business with N1m. She is into a business where she needs boats and I bought her two other boats with the one she had before. When his grandmother died, I spent a lot of money to bury her on his behalf. All these his family members know.’

Speaking on the ownership of the MSN Gang, he said, ‘He says he owns MSN Gang but that is a big lie. I registered that company name myself and created every logo of the company. He now manages an artiste, Rayce, and he put my logo on the guy’s work after I warned him not to do so. Because of that, I will let the law decide who is wrong between us. He has never given me money in his life; instead I have always been the one giving him money. I have witnesses to prove this. When he was ill, I was the one that picked his hospital bill, I have all the receipts. I am taking him to court him and he will have up to 20-count charge. Why will he leave my house with my car and money? He has been lying about me and I would sue him for defamation of character. How would someone whom I do not know from Adam say he picked me up from Ajegunle?

“This year would mark my 25th year as a singer; I started from Sunday Rendezvous in 1996. The first multinational show that I performed at was Benson and Hedges Golden Show. Where was Danku then? He has been dancing to my songs since he was a kid and he knows I am a legend in this country. He used to tell me all this and now, he tells people he brought me from the slum; this was someone I fed. I am going to sue Danku, his artiste, Rayce, and one HD who shot the video because they used my logo without my permission”.

Whatever the real story is, it will be a great shame to see another public feud and we do hope the two can amicably resolve their issues.
