History was made as the British Nigerian Law forum elected its first female chairperson, Seye Aina, at their annual general meeting last Monday.

It is the first time since the organisation’s inception in 2001 that it will be headed by a woman.

The British Nigeria Law Forum is a vibrant professional organisation made up of practising lawyers and students. They provide business, networking and educational opportunities for members and friends in the UK and Nigeria. Established in 2001, the group has a long and successful track record of staging major professional and social events designed to develop and support the careers of their members. BNLF was founded following the ‘African Law Week’ Conference, organised by the British Council in Abuja, Nigeria in May 2001, attended by leaders of the Law Society of England and Wales, The General Council of the Bar of England and Wales and the Nigerian Bar Association.

The new Chairperson, Seye Aina is the founder of Paceworking, a leading UK business network focusing on promotions, conferences, launches, exhibitions and business networking events. It is also an events consultancy for those wishing to attract interest from professionals, entrepreneurs, charitable organisations and media interest in the UK and internationally.

Stephen Akinsanya of Bethel Chambers is the immediate past chairperson of the BNLF.
