Plans for a cinema, shops, restaurants, offices and up to 750 new homes in Woolwich are being unveiled to the public.

A two-day exhibition is being held to show the plans for 4.6 acres of land at Spray Street in the town centre.

A mix of one, two, three and four bedroom apartments, alongside townhouses will make up the 750 homes, of which 35 per cent will be categorised as “affordable”.

Locals are being asked to come view the plans and asked for their thoughts and feedback on the ambitious proposals.

The plans include an independent cinema, a children’s nursery, office space, shops, restaurants, cafes and leisure facilities.

The site is next to the Royal Arsenal, where a new entertainment hub is set to be built after Greenwich Council approved the £31m investment towards the proposals.

The transformation of Spray Street Quarter, a joint venture between St. Modwen and Notting Hill Housing, includes the covered market opposite the Royal Arsenal.

The new Elizabeth Line stop, set to open in 2018, is one minute away from the proposed site, as are the current DLR and train stations.

Submitting the plans for planning permission will occur later this year after the companies have received the public feedback from the consultation.

John Hughes, group development director at Notting Hill Housing, said: “We are committed to working with the local community to deliver an exemplary regeneration for Woolwich.

“We have listened to what people liked and disliked in our plans and we’re confident that our evolving proposals will continue to interest and excite local people.

“We hope as many people as possible come along to participate in the latest consultation before our plans are finalised.”

The exhibition will be held at the Greenwich and Lewisham Young People’s Theatre (the Tramshed) on April 21 from 4pm to 8pm, and on April 22 from 11am to 4pm.
