SEE OFFICIAL PICTURES FROM THE OONI OF IFE’S VISIT TO WOOLWICH TOWN HALL

Earlier today, the Royal Borough of Greenwich, London received a Royal African visitor.

His Worshipful, the Mayor of the Borough, Cllr Olugbenga Babatola played host to His Imperial Highness Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi Ojaja II who is currently on his 2 week historical visit to the United Kingdom. The occassion was made more poignant as the Nigerian born Mayor is the first African to hold the post in the Borough 150 years history and the Ooni is also the first African Royalty to make an official visit to the Town Hall.

The Nigerian flag was hoisted above the town Hall in honour of the Royal visitor – albeit in half mast in remembrance of the terror attack that took place at the House of Parliament on Wednesday.

The Ooni who exchanged gifts with the Mayor, later addressed a gathering of Nigerians in the Council chambers and afterwards, was hosted to a reception in The Mayor’s Parlour where he happily chatted with and took pictures with many of the guests.

Also present were Councillors from the Borough, clergymen from many churches within the Borough, community leaders and activists and many other guest from the Borough’s Nigerian and African communities.
