SENATE PASSES VOTE OF CONFIDENCE ON SARAKI

The 8th Senate just passed a Motion on a Vote of Confidence on its Leadership. The Motion was raised by Senator David Umaru from Niger East

The Vote of Confidence on Senate President  which took place amidst much drama, was seconded by Senator Ahmed Sani and supported by 84 out of the total 109 Senators.

The Senate also called on the Nigerian Police, the Department of State Security Services, DSS and other Security agencies not to allow themselves to be used by any person irrespective of who was involved to harass, intimidate or blackmail the entire Senate, Senators and their spouses.

These resolutions of the Senators were sequel to a motion of Vote of Confidence on Principal Officers of the Senate by Senator Samuel Anyanwu, PDP, Imo East in Pursuit to Orders 42 and 52 of the Senate Standing Orders 2015 as Amended.

There had been nationwide calls for the Senate President to step down in the light of his ongoing case and appearance with the Code of Conduct Tribunal where he is being questioned on false asset declaration charges
