WE WANT N40M – BAYELSA COMMISSIONER ABDUCTORS

Abductors of Madam Serefina Otazi, the Bayelsa State Commissioner for Local Government, have demanded a ransom of N40 million, according to family sources.

The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Col. Samuel Inokoba, Otazi was abducted at gun point on December 20 in Otuoke on her way to a funeral in Ewoi Community in Ogbia Local Government Area (LGA).

Family member Endurance Frank confirmed in a telephone interview on Tuesday that the kidnappers had contacted the family and demanded N40 million to set the victim free.

Frank said that the family was relieved to hear from Otazi and appealed to the kidnappers to free her unconditionally.

Meanwhile, the whereabouts of Nancy Dickson, Governor Seriake Dickson’s sister who was abducted less than 24 hours earlier than Otazi, remain unknown as the two women spent Christmas with their kidnappers.

The Bayelsa Police Command had confirmed the kidnapping of the governor’s younger sister.

Assistant Superintendent of Police Asinim Butswat, the spokesman for the command, said that 26-year old Nancy was abducted in her shop located on Okaka Road, Yenagoa, on Saturday.

Butswat said that the gunmen, who drove in an ash-coloured Lexus SUV, trailed Nancy to her shop and whisked her away at about 2:50 p.m.
