It’s five years on Friday since the world watched William and Kate tie the knot in the ultimate royal fairytale wedding.
But although it might have been a performance orchestrated to within an inch of its life, the love birds certainly weren’t putting on a show.
From giving the royal wave in unison to gasping in tandem and drinking and clapping like a pair of synchronised swimmers, we have a seriously romantic case of copy Kate on our hands.
Forget the staged shot outside India’s Taj Mahal . It’s when they don’t realise it that this pair – the ultimate royal ‘we’ – give away their true feelings – by mirroring every move the other makes.
It is obvious two have become one. And if you add in George and Charlotte that’s while becoming four – which, if you ask most new parents, really does take a serious sprinkle of fairytale magic.

10 ROYAL REASONS WHY THE MARRIAGE WORKS
1) Kate’s a very forgiving wife. Two kids down, and her bod’s never looked better. William, meanwhile, is slowly adopting his father’s hairstyle… but Kate has mastered the art of pretending she doesn’t mind.
2) William knows that nothing is more important than his wife’s clothes or hair, and is happy to let her shine at public events, rather than being well jel of all the attention she gets.
3) Kate is happy to wear cast offs – Diana’s engagement ring, the Queen’s tiara – rather than demanding brand new stuff of her own. She also thriftily recycles her clothes – wearing some of her hideously expensive designer outfits more than once, rather than just chucking them straight in the bin after one outing like so many other wives do.
4) While they were courting, William probably reminded Kate on a daily basis that his dad doesn’t even squeeze his own toothpaste on to the brush, so she entered the marriage with low expectations. Even the most basic man can meet those.
5) When the stresses of life get too much for them, just like any other married couple they sneak away for a mini-break. Just likeno other married couples, theirs includes servants, nannies and butlers, just like at home. Oh, and their mini-breaks last six weeks and are called royal tours. Plus, they’re free!
6) Kate gets on well with his family – she obviously has a good relationship with hottie Harry but never oversteps the boundaries, even though she must totally want to, because she is human after all.
7) William gets on well with her family – he obviously has a good relationship with pert Pippa but never oversteps the boundaries, even though he must totally want to, because he is human after all.
8) A man in uniform is always exciting, so William’s part-time job as helicopter pilot must keep the passion alive, Top Gun style.
9) They don’t hold grudges – on their first overseas tour as a married couple, they competed against each other in a dragon boat race in Canada. William won, and Kate gave him a congratulatory hug even even though she probably felt more like pushing him in the water.
10) Their marriage – and the birth of their children – has made the public much more interested, and fonder, of the Royal Family than ever before. So basically they can’t ever split up, even if they want to. That’s probably quite a good incentive to work at a marriage, even if you’re lazy.
Relationships psychologist Judi James examined the royal couple to determine if and by how much more the loved up couple are still in love.
Harry has been William’s wing man and best friend for years and in many ways one of the greatest strengths in the royal marriage has been the way Kate has been an equally competitive fun friend to her husband,” Judi said
“However with Kate taking over from Harry in terms of being a playmate she seems to have adopted an ideal form of compatibility that works for both of them.
“Pictures showing Kate publicly laughing and pulling funny faces at William shows high levels of trust and support between them.
“When there’s anything sporty to do they will both get stuck in and in India it was often Kate looking the stronger, striding out on their treks in full Indiana Jones mode.
“William might have been happy to protect a more vulnerable wife from royal life but in Kate he married a friend and equal and that dynamic seems to suit him best.”

“When William and Kate were first engaged I was struck by the small moments of strong mirroring between them,” Judi continued.
“Subliminal body language mimicry signals like-minded thinking and high levels of rapport.
“This trait is common in the first stages of love but interestingly it seems to have increased rather than decreased as William and Kate’s marriage has matured.
“On their recent trip to India they had many moments of complete postural echo and this more than anything suggests they could be closer than ever before”

We say Congratulations and Happy Anniversary to the young royal couple and wish them many more years of conjugal bliss and close intimacy.
