A scripture in the Bible says “For we know in part and we prophesy in part” (1 Corinthians 13:9)
Most times we form our opinions, views and judgements based on information we gather from independent sources, third parties and embellished accounts.
Many of us hear some uncorroboratted info or vicious piece of gossip and run with it as the real truth.
Many foolishly hear snippets of stories about other people and assume they know everything about them.
What we ignorantly fail to realise is that unless we hear stories right “from the horse’s mouth” or we’ve been real time witnesses to events and occurrences as they unfold, we cannot in any way, intelligently lay claim to owning the full picture.
And even then, we still might not get the full details. Hearing a story from one side also does not give us the privilege of full knowledge, for one person can either edit, embellish or twist stories to their advantage.
And even if they were to be truthful, they might not believe you have the right to the full details of what is their personal business even if they post regulatly about themself on social media.
Things are not always what they seem and what we think we know about someone might not always be the absolute truth. From my experience, I’ve found that many of the most visible social media personalities are actually the most secretive. But some silly folks would allow themselves to be taken in by their posts that are simply meant for entertainment or informational value and treat them as the poster’s personal experience. And before you know it, some misguided madam is spreading vicious tales and stories.
So next time you want to spread the “news” about someone else’s personal life, ask yourself
“Do I really know the full story or just a part of it”
Or better still ask “Is it my business anyway”
